About us

The Israel Mathematical Union (IMU) is the professional association of mathematicians in Israel, which works actively to encourage advanced mathematical research and teaching

The IMU maintains contacts with other mathematical associations worldwide: it is a corporate member of the European Mathematical Society (EMS), an associate member of the International Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and has a reciprocity membership agreement with the American Mathematical Society (AMS), and with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)

The IMU officers usually change every two years, and presently are from the Technion-IIT

Affiliated societies

  • The IMU is a member society of the EMS
  • Members of the IMU can join the EMS for half the regular price (23 euros instead of 46 euro in 2009)

  • Why should I join the EMS? (e.g., as of mid-2012, EMS members get free access to the Journal of the EMS)
American Mathematical Society (AMS)
  • The IMU is a reciprocal society of the AMS
  • Individual members of the IMU who reside outside the United States qualify for Reciprocity Membership in the AMS (86$ instead of 128$ in 2012)
